ABB Switzerland Files Patent for Circuit Breaker with Enhanced Heat Dissipation

Time:2026-05-08 Browse: 0

According to information from the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), ABB Switzerland Ltd. has filed a patent for a circuit breaker, under publication number CN121709453A, with the application date of September 2025.

The patent focuses on a novel circuit breaker design that improves heat dissipation efficiency. The invention comprises upper terminals, lower terminals, a switching element, an insulating housing, a heat collector, and a heat sink. The upper terminals are electrically connected to the fixed contacts of the switching element, while the lower terminals connect to the movable contacts. The insulating housing partially encloses the upper terminals, lower terminals, and switching element, while the heat collector is partially embedded within the insulating housing.

Crucially, the heat collector is electrically insulated from the terminals and switching element by the housing material, with at least part of its surface exposed externally. The heat sink is connected to this exposed surface of the heat collector, allowing for improved thermal management of the circuit breaker. This design aims to enhance the operational reliability and longevity of electrical systems by efficiently dissipating heat generated during operation.

This patent demonstrates ABB’s continued commitment to innovation in electrical protection devices and its focus on advancing the safety, reliability, and efficiency of industrial electrical systems.
