ABB Launches Drive Nanjing Campus, Bringing Advanced Variable Frequency Technology to China

Nanjing, China – May 19, 2026 – ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation technologies, officially broke ground on its Drive Nanjing Campus in Jiangning Development Zone, Jiangsu Province. This project is ABB’s sole wholly-owned manufacturing initiative in Jiangsu and represents a significant step in the company’s strategic expansion in China. The development is expected to energize the growth of high-end manufacturing in Jiangning and contribute to regional economic transformation.
The ABB Drive Nanjing Campus will focus on the research, development, and production of industrial motion control products. It will feature three core platforms:
Smart Manufacturing Center – for advanced and efficient production processes
Collaborative R&D Innovation Center – to accelerate local innovation and product development
Digital Customer Experience Center – to enhance customer engagement and service
The project will be executed in two phases and aims to establish a benchmark for green, intelligent, and lean manufacturing. During the first phase, ABB will simultaneously establish its Nanjing Drive R&D Center, introducing globally advanced variable frequency technologies to China and driving local innovation to enhance product flexibility and reliability.
