According to the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Schneider Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. has been granted a patent titled “Circuit for Coil Break Detection and Circuit Breaker Including the Circuit” (Patent Publication No. CN224052386U), with the application filed in March 2025.
The patent discloses a specialized circuit designed to detect coil disconnections in circuit breakers. The circuit comprises:
a filtering module, configured to receive the voltage signal associated with the coil and output a filtered voltage signal to a comparator;
a threshold-setting module, providing a reference threshold signal to the comparator;
a comparator, with a positive input connected to the filtering module, a negative input connected to the threshold-setting module, and an output generating a signal based on the comparison of the filtered voltage and the threshold;
a bias module, connected between the comparator’s positive input and output;
a processing module, configured to receive the comparator output and determine whether the coil is broken by detecting the presence of rising and falling edges in the output signal.
This innovation allows for real-time detection of coil disconnections using the output signal, significantly improving fault diagnosis, operational safety, and reliability in circuit breaker applications.
