Schneider Electric secures 9 global design awards including Red Dot and iF Design Awards. Unica Plus switch wins “Best of the Best,” highlighting innovation in industrial electrical design and user experience.
Global energy technology leader Schneider Electric has been recognized with nine international design awards, including multiple Red Dot Awards and iF Design Awards, reinforcing its leadership in combining industrial technology with advanced design innovation.
Among the awarded products, two solutions achieved dual recognition across both major competitions: the Acti9 Pro intelligent circuit breaker and the iC65 miniature circuit breaker. In addition, the Unica Plus “Zhibo” series sliding switch received the highest Red Dot distinction — the “Best of the Best” award, one of the most prestigious honors in global industrial design.

The Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award are widely regarded as two of the world’s most influential industrial design competitions, often referred to as part of the “Big Three” global design awards.
This year, Schneider Electric received:
3 Red Dot Design Awards
6 iF Design Awards
2 products achieving both Red Dot and iF recognition
1 “Best of the Best” Red Dot award (Unica Plus series)
The “Best of the Best” distinction is particularly significant, with participation from over 60 countries and more than 12,000 submissions annually, with an acceptance rate typically below 1%.
According to Zheng Leihong, Vice President of Schneider Electric and Head of China Design Lab, industrial design is no longer only about aesthetics but plays a critical role in connecting users with energy technology.
He emphasized that good industrial design makes energy systems safer, smarter, more intuitive, and more sustainable, serving as a key pathway for technology adoption in real-world environments.
The Unica Plus “Zhibo” series switch and socket system received the Red Dot “Best of the Best” award for its breakthrough design approach.
Key design highlights include:
Ultra-slim 4.3 mm profile
Minimalist visual structure inspired by traditional Chinese rice paper art
Layered form concept influenced by scroll aesthetics
Smooth curved edges and refined color palette for residential integration
The design aims to seamlessly integrate into modern living spaces while maintaining a near “invisible” visual presence.
The Red Dot jury noted that the ultra-thin body, innovative sliding cover replacing traditional rocker switches, and carefully designed tactile feedback deliver both elegance and functional innovation.
Another award-winning product, the EasyLogic metal panel system, was recognized in the iF Design Awards category. It is designed primarily for hospitality applications, focusing on durability, customization, and ease of maintenance.
Key features include:
Press-based structure eliminating top seams
Improved dust and water resistance
Easier cleaning for hotel environments
Integrated multifunction design on a single surface
Reduced material usage and minimized visual clutter
The design reflects a balance between functional reliability, resource efficiency, and premium user experience in commercial environments.
Beyond aesthetics, Schneider Electric emphasizes that industrial design must align with strict requirements for safety, reliability, and long-term operational stability in energy systems.
By combining advanced engineering with user-centered design principles, the company aims to deliver electrical products that support uninterrupted operation and simplified maintenance across residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
