Paris, France – July 2026 – Schneider Electric has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Cognite Holding, a leading industrial data and AI software provider, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3.1 billion (about RMB 21 billion). The acquisition marks a significant expansion of Schneider Electric’s industrial software and artificial intelligence capabilities, further strengthening its AVEVA business unit.
According to the company, Cognite will be fully integrated into AVEVA, Schneider Electric’s industrial software subsidiary, once the transaction is completed in the coming quarters, subject to regulatory approvals.
The acquisition reflects Schneider Electric’s continued push into industrial AI, digitalization, and data-driven automation. Cognite is known for its cloud-native industrial data platform that enables organizations to contextualize complex operational data and apply advanced AI models across industrial environments.
By integrating Cognite’s technology into AVEVA, Schneider Electric aims to enhance its AVEVA CONNECT platform, enabling improved data contextualization, AI-driven insights, and operational intelligence across the full industrial lifecycle—from engineering and operations to asset performance management.
Industry observers note that the deal reinforces a broader trend in the automation sector, where companies are moving beyond traditional SCADA and MES systems toward AI-enabled industrial ecosystems capable of autonomous decision-making.

AVEVA, already a major global provider of industrial software, SCADA systems, and engineering tools, will serve as the core integration hub for Cognite’s technologies.
The combined portfolio is expected to deliver:
Enhanced industrial data contextualization
Expanded AI and machine learning capabilities
Improved digital twin and asset performance solutions
Stronger integration between IT and OT environments
Accelerated deployment of industrial AI applications
Schneider Electric stated that this integration will help customers “turn complex industrial data into actionable intelligence” and support the transition toward autonomous and software-defined industrial operations.
Cognite specializes in transforming fragmented industrial data into structured, AI-ready datasets using a unified data model and knowledge graph approach. Its platform is widely adopted in asset-intensive industries such as energy, manufacturing, and process industries.
The company has also been expanding its industrial AI applications, enabling use cases such as predictive maintenance, real-time operational optimization, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
The acquisition positions Schneider Electric more strongly in the competitive industrial software market, where key players are racing to combine data platforms, AI models, and automation systems into unified ecosystems.
Analysts expect the deal to:
Strengthen Schneider Electric’s leadership in industrial digital transformation
Enhance AVEVA’s competitiveness against other industrial software providers
Accelerate the convergence of automation, AI, and cloud-based industrial platforms
Expand adoption of industrial AI across global manufacturing and energy sectors
As industrial companies increasingly prioritize efficiency, sustainability, and autonomous operations, the integration of Cognite into AVEVA is seen as a strategic step toward building a next-generation industrial intelligence platform.
