ABB and Tata Consultancy Services Expand AI-Driven Global Network Partnership for Digital Transforma

Time:2026-07-14 Browse: 0

ABB and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have signed a multi-year, multi-million-dollar agreement to enhance ABB’s global network operations through an artificial intelligence-driven Network-as-a-Service model, supporting secure, scalable, and intelligent industrial digital infrastructure.

ABB and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have expanded their long-term strategic partnership with a new agreement focused on transforming ABB’s global network management through AI-powered technologies. Under the multi-year collaboration, TCS will take responsibility for the end-to-end operation and management of ABB’s global network environment, helping the industrial technology company build a more secure, resilient, and intelligent digital foundation.

The agreement represents a further expansion of the cooperation between the two companies, which has continued for more than 20 years. The latest initiative reflects a growing trend among global manufacturers: using artificial intelligence, automation, and centralized network management platforms to support increasingly connected industrial operations.

For modern industrial enterprises, reliable network infrastructure has become a critical foundation for smart factories, industrial automation systems, cloud applications, and global production coordination.

AI-Powered Network Operations for Global Industrial Infrastructure

As part of the agreement, TCS will expand its role beyond traditional infrastructure and application management services to support ABB’s complete global network operations. The project will be delivered through ABB’s “Future Network Architecture” initiative, designed to create a unified and centrally managed enterprise network environment.

TCS will develop and operate a secure, AI-enabled network service framework for ABB, coordinating multiple technology providers and managing network design, integration, monitoring, and operations through a standardized service model.

The transformation will integrate previously separated network environments into a unified architecture, including:

  • Global network operations management

  • Advanced cybersecurity protection

  • Local area network (LAN) modernization

  • Wide area network (WAN) optimization

  • Software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) infrastructure upgrades

  • End-to-end network monitoring and orchestration

By introducing AI capabilities into network management, the new platform is expected to enable proactive monitoring, automated issue detection, dynamic resource adjustment, and continuous performance optimization.

Building a More Resilient Digital Foundation for Industry

ABB and TCS stated that the network modernization program aims to improve employee connectivity experience, increase operational efficiency, strengthen cybersecurity compliance, and provide a flexible platform capable of supporting future digital business requirements.

For global industrial companies, network reliability has become increasingly important as factories adopt connected automation systems, industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies, and data-driven production models.

A secure and intelligent network infrastructure enables manufacturers to improve communication between production sites, optimize industrial data flows, and support advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and automation analytics.

20-Year Partnership Continues to Expand

The latest agreement builds on decades of cooperation between ABB and TCS. Previous projects have included enterprise resource planning (ERP) standardization, SAP platform integration, and cloud transformation initiatives.

ABB Group Chief Information Officer Alec Joannou said that the Future Network Architecture program represents an important milestone in strengthening ABB’s global digital foundation. The initiative is designed to support long-term transformation goals through a highly secure, resilient, and scalable technology ecosystem.

TCS highlighted that artificial intelligence will become a key component of the new network operating model, enabling the infrastructure to become more autonomous through intelligent monitoring, adaptive management, and continuous optimization.

Anupam Singhal, President of Manufacturing at TCS, stated that the collaboration marks a new stage in the long-term relationship between the two companies. By combining AI-powered infrastructure management, secure digital platforms, and manufacturing expertise, TCS aims to help ABB establish a more intelligent and resilient global network backbone.

Supporting the Future of Smart Manufacturing and Industrial Automation

The partnership comes as global manufacturers continue increasing investments in intelligent infrastructure to support connected factories, industrial automation, and growing volumes of production data.

As industrial operations become more digital and interconnected, AI-driven network management is expected to play a larger role in improving reliability, cybersecurity, and operational flexibility.

Through the expanded collaboration with TCS, ABB is strengthening the digital infrastructure needed for future industrial innovation, enabling more efficient global operations and supporting the continued development of smart manufacturing ecosystems.
