Body:

According to the China National Intellectual Property Administration, ABB Switzerland Ltd. has filed a patent titled “Method for Monitoring Guided Teaching” (Publication No. CN121969463A), with an application date of October 2023.

The patent describes a computer-implemented method for monitoring guided teaching of robots in human-robot collaborative environments. The approach is designed to enhance operational safety by dynamically analyzing robot movements during interactive teaching.

Key Technical Details:

  • Speed vector reception (S100): Captures real-time motion of robot components.

  • Force vector reception (S200): Measures forces exerted by or on robot components.

  • Safety result determination (S300): Evaluates speed and force data to determine potential hazards.

  • Safety stop trigger (S400): Activates a safety stop based on the evaluated safety results to prevent accidents.

This innovation allows robots to respond proactively during guided teaching sessions, providing an additional safety layer in collaborative industrial applications. It reflects ABB’s ongoing commitment to enhancing human-robot interaction safety and operational reliability in manufacturing and industrial automation.
