Schneider Electric has officially introduced its new 800V DC power infrastructure solution designed for next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. At the same time, Schneider Electric is collaborating with NVIDIA to develop an advanced AI rack power system capable of supporting up to 1.2 MW power delivery, accelerating innovation in high-density data center infrastructure.
With the rapid growth of generative AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and accelerated computing platforms, data center power requirements are increasing significantly. Traditional rack power levels are evolving from hundreds of kilowatts toward megawatt-scale power demand, creating new challenges for electrical distribution, thermal management, and system reliability.
Traditional AC power architectures typically place power conversion equipment, cables, and connectors inside IT racks. This approach consumes valuable rack space, restricts airflow, and increases cooling system complexity.
Schneider Electric’s 800V DC architecture addresses these challenges by increasing voltage levels to reduce current requirements, enabling more efficient megawatt-scale power transmission. By relocating AC/DC conversion equipment outside the IT rack, the solution creates additional space for GPUs and computing hardware while improving internal airflow management.
The optimized power delivery design helps reduce electrical losses, improve cooling efficiency, and support higher computing density for AI-focused data center applications.

For existing data center upgrade projects, Schneider Electric has developed an independent power rack architecture that can be installed beside IT racks. The dedicated power rack integrates power conversion and protection functions separately from computing equipment.
This design allows each rack to have an independent power configuration, limiting the impact of potential failures and reducing the risk of system-wide downtime caused by single-point faults.
The modular architecture also provides greater flexibility for future expansion, allowing operators to scale AI computing capacity while maintaining reliable power distribution.
As part of its cooperation with NVIDIA, Schneider Electric is developing an 800V DC sidecar power module designed specifically for AI racks requiring up to 1.2 MW power capacity.
The companies have demonstrated an 800V DC infrastructure prototype supporting NVIDIA’s next-generation Vera Rubin Ultra platform at the NVIDIA GTC conference. The prototype highlights the future direction of high-performance AI data center power systems, where efficient power delivery and advanced thermal management are becoming critical factors.
Beyond power conversion equipment, Schneider Electric is developing a complete system-level solution that integrates grounding systems, protection devices, energy storage solutions, and upstream and downstream electrical equipment.
The solution covers electrical system modeling, fault current analysis, arc flash assessment, simulation, and practical testing verification to ensure safe and reliable operation in demanding AI data center environments.
Schneider Electric emphasized that 800V DC conversion is not simply a voltage upgrade, but a comprehensive approach combining power conversion, protection, energy storage, and maintenance strategies into one integrated infrastructure design.
As AI workloads continue to expand, data center operators require power systems that can deliver higher efficiency, improved reliability, and greater scalability. Schneider Electric’s 800V DC infrastructure represents a significant development direction for future AI computing environments.
