Shandong ABB Electric Switch Co., Ltd. has successfully obtained the UL 2799 Platinum Zero Waste to Landfill Certification, marking another important achievement in ABB’s sustainable manufacturing initiatives in China.
The certification highlights ABB’s commitment to reducing environmental impact throughout the entire product lifecycle and working with industry partners to build a more sustainable future.
ABB has been continuously advancing sustainable development by embedding environmental responsibility into its operational systems and manufacturing processes. On July 23, Shandong ABB Electric Switch Co., Ltd. officially achieved the UL 2799 Platinum Zero Waste to Landfill Certification, demonstrating significant progress in waste management, resource recycling, and green factory development.
As part of ABB’s electrical smart building business, Shandong ABB Electric Switch Co., Ltd. focuses on the production of electrical switches, sockets, and terminal distribution products. Since its establishment in March 2025, the company has rapidly integrated ABB’s global sustainability philosophy into daily operations, implementing digital energy management solutions and improving resource utilization efficiency.
The UL 2799 Zero Waste Classification Environmental Claim Validation Procedure is recognized as one of the most challenging waste management standards worldwide. To achieve certification, companies must divert at least 90% of waste from landfills through recycling, reuse, or energy recovery methods. The Platinum level requires a 100% waste diversion rate, meaning no operational waste is sent to landfill.
Since launching its certification program in March 2026, Shandong ABB Electric Switch Co., Ltd. has adopted a systematic approach to improve waste management and promote circular manufacturing practices.

Improving waste classification processes and cooperating with qualified recycling partners to maximize the recovery value of industrial waste.
Optimizing product packaging design according to green design principles to reduce material consumption at the source.

Providing sustainability training for employees to promote waste reduction, classification, and recycling practices.
Through these measures, the company achieved a 100% waste conversion rate covering production waste, office waste, and kitchen waste. All waste materials are processed through recycling, reuse, or energy conversion methods, successfully achieving the zero landfill target.
