Emerson Strengthens Net Zero Commitment Across Operations and Value Chain
Sustainability remains a key component of Emerson’s long-term business strategy. In fiscal year 2022, Emerson’s near-term carbon reduction targets were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), while the company’s long-term net zero targets were also recognized.
According to the 2025 Sustainability Report, Emerson has achieved significant progress in reducing operational emissions. Compared with the 2021 baseline year, the company has reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 49%.
This achievement has been driven by targeted energy efficiency improvements, increased renewable electricity adoption, and continuous optimization of global manufacturing operations. By 2025, renewable electricity accounted for 56% of Emerson’s total global electricity consumption.
Emerson has also optimized its global supply chain structure, with approximately 80% of material spending sourced regionally. This approach helps reduce transportation-related carbon emissions while improving supply chain efficiency.
The company continues to move toward its long-term sustainability goals, including achieving zero landfill waste by 2032 and reaching net zero across its value chain by 2045. Scope 3 emissions have already been reduced by 16%, demonstrating Emerson’s commitment to supporting decarbonization throughout the entire industrial ecosystem.
Green Innovation: Using Automation Technology to Support Sustainable Development

Regional sourcing initiatives have also enabled approximately 80% of material spending to be localized, reducing transportation emissions while improving delivery efficiency and supply chain resilience.
