ABB Enhances Non-Intrusive Temperature Measurement for Critical Industries

ABB has expanded its NINVA™ non-intrusive temperature measurement portfolio with three new product variants: NINVA™ Integral, NINVA™ Split, and NINVA™ Compact. The expanded range is designed to provide safer, simpler, and more cost-efficient temperature measurement across demanding industrial applications.



Targeted industries include oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, and marine operations, where operational safety, measurement accuracy, and reduced maintenance intervention are critical requirements.

Clamp-On Temperature Measurement Without Process Interruption

The NINVA™ series enables temperature measurement directly from the external surface of pipelines, eliminating the need for intrusive installation methods such as pipe cutting, welding, or process shutdowns.

By clamping onto the outside of the pipe, NINVA devices estimate internal process temperature through advanced thermal modeling techniques, delivering performance comparable to traditional thermowells while significantly improving installation safety and efficiency.

This approach helps industries reduce both engineering complexity and lifecycle maintenance costs, while improving operational uptime.

NINVA™ Split

Engineered for power generation and utility applications, the Split version is suitable for high-temperature environments exceeding 400°C, such as steam and high-temperature gas lines. It can withstand up to 2g vibration and is typically used with ABB’s TTF300 N field transmitter for flexible installation and remote monitoring in harsh environments.


NINVA™ Compact

The Compact version is certified for marine applications and confined installations where space is limited. It supports DN15 and above small-bore pipelines, skid systems, and mobile equipment. With resistance up to 4g vibration, it is ideal for harsh mechanical environments and has received classification society approvals for marine use.
