Schneider Electric has officially introduced its next-generation Altivar HVAC variable frequency drive (VFD), the ATH600 series, in the Chinese market. Designed specifically for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, the new series delivers enhanced performance, strengthened safety features, and expanded global certifications to support the growing demand for energy-efficient and intelligent building systems.
As China continues to accelerate its “dual carbon” goals and smart building development, the HVAC industry is entering a critical phase of digital transformation and energy optimization. Variable frequency drives, as core components in HVAC systems, play an increasingly important role in improving system efficiency, ensuring stable operation, and enabling intelligent control. The launch of the ATH600 series further expands Schneider Electric’s portfolio in the HVAC segment.
The Altivar HVAC ATH600 series is engineered specifically for HVAC environments, with a power range from 0.75 kW to 250 kW. It is suitable for a wide range of applications including fans, pumps, and compressors, which are the most common loads in HVAC systems.
The drive integrates a full set of HVAC-oriented functions such as 3-loop PID control, fire mode operation, and multi-pump control. It also includes built-in application macros for pumps, fans, and compressors, significantly simplifying commissioning and on-site maintenance.
For system integration, the ATH600 series comes with embedded Modbus and BACnet MS/TP protocols as standard, and supports optional BACnet IP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus TCP communication modules. This enables seamless integration into modern Building Management Systems (BMS), supporting centralized monitoring and intelligent building operations.
Designed for complex HVAC environments, the ATH600 series supports stable operation in ambient temperatures ranging from -10°C to 60°C. It also offers strong mechanical, electrical, and environmental adaptability, making it suitable for machine rooms, rooftop units, and outdoor installations.

The ATH600 series delivers significant performance improvements to enhance energy efficiency and system reliability in HVAC applications.
All models are equipped with a built-in C2 EMC filter as standard, with an optional C1 filter available. Total harmonic current distortion (THDI) is controlled below 35% for units up to 18.5 kW, and below 48% for models from 22 kW up to 250 kW and above. External passive filtering solutions are also supported for higher power ranges.
The series supports both synchronous motors and synchronous reluctance motor control, improving flexibility in different HVAC system designs. Optional Chinese-language operation panels are available to improve usability and commissioning efficiency for local users. Expansion cards for communication and I/O functions further enhance system integration capabilities.
In terms of safety and compliance, the ATH600 series is designed to meet stringent requirements for modern HVAC and international engineering projects.
The drive includes a built-in Safe Torque Off (STO) function compliant with SIL3 safety standards, significantly improving operational safety for both personnel and equipment. It supports multiple protection ratings including IP20, IP21, and IP55, making it suitable for a variety of installation environments.
In addition, the product meets SL1 cybersecurity standards, enhancing system stability and operational security in connected industrial environments. The ATH600 series has also obtained CE certification, enabling Chinese manufacturers and system integrators to support overseas project requirements more effectively.
The launch of the Altivar HVAC ATH600 series further strengthens Schneider Electric’s position in the global HVAC and building automation market. By combining energy efficiency, digital connectivity, and high reliability, the new series is designed to support the transformation of HVAC systems toward low-carbon, intelligent, and highly integrated building infrastructure.
Looking ahead, Schneider Electric continues to collaborate with customers and ecosystem partners in China to accelerate the development of smart buildings and sustainable urban infrastructure.
